Company Info

Sherborne Sensors is an established, dynamic company based in ‘transducer valley’ in Hampshire the UK with an expanding world-wide customer base.
Our core operations focus on the design and manufacture of precision Inclinometers, Accelerometers and Force Transducers. All of these products enjoy an unrivaled status for ultra-reliability and long-life precision in critical military and industrial applications. We offer a large range of standard “off the shelf” units to meet the requirements of many applications but a large percentage of our business is the manufacture of custom sensors to meet customer’s specific requirements.
Many of the inertial products have evolved from the Schaevitz brand that innovated sensor design back in the 1940s. The Force Transducers have their roots with the Maywood brand founded in the 1970s.
The markets we serve
The potential range of applications for our products is enormous, and continually increasing. Applications span sectors ranging from military and civil aviation to civil engineering (road, rail and tunnels), pipeline laying, robotics, wire bond testing, oil platforms, transit systems and many many more.
Our products
Inclinometers – RESOLUTION TO LESS THAN 1 SECOND OF ARC
These are utilised in applications where high accuracy of tilt measurement is required. Typical applications include the following but a full list would be inexhaustible:

Accelerometers – RESOLUTION TO 5 MICRO g
These are used in applications where acceleration/deceleration/vibration monitoring is crucial. These applications are typical but are just the tip of the iceberg:
- military and civil flight simulators
- autopilots and low frequency vibration monitoring
- crash recorders
- data acquisition systems
- fatigue life monitoring and prediction
- deceleration monitoring and control in mass transit systems
Force Transducers – HIGH PRECISION FORCE MEASUREMENT
Used in countless applications where force measurements are critical for safety and longevity of operation.
- bearing force load cell
- biomechanical applications
- automotive crash testing
- 3 component force measurements
- onboard weighing
- material and structural testing
Prime location
Our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility is located in Hampshire in the south of England, in an area widely described as the UK’s ‘Transducer Valley’. We enjoy excellent road and rail links with the rest of the UK and mainland Europe and proximity to the UK’s prime international airports facilitates prompt shipment of product – anywhere.
Manufacturing techniques
Manufacturing processes within our facility have been developed in line with the highest quality standards in the industry. All our manufacturing staff are highly trained, working to stringent standards of accuracy and performance. Our key objective is to manufacture products with maximum reliability, and our continuous quality monitoring ensures that every product is thoroughly tested at each stage of its manufacture.
Our Quality Management System has been approved to BS EN ISO 9001:2000.
